Anybody with the ability to haul a tiny home may do so as long as it is built to the specifications of no more than 8’ 6” wide and 13’ 6” high. If living in Maine, MP Customs and Tiny Homes has the ability to transport a wider model for you up to 11’ 6” wide. We do this in cooperation with our site work contractor who has a special license and ability to do so.
Also, how your tiny home is designed is key in how it will tow behind a vehicle. Too much tongue weight pushes you around while too much wheel weight can make the trailer loose. We try to keep the weight below 10,000 pounds and spread the load out accordingly. Not too much on the tongue and not too much on just the wheels. All of this goes into consideration with an MP custom tiny home so that your drive is just as comfortable as your stay.
